As this was my first family trip to goa I booked CAP'S CORNER so called (BAGA COMFORTS) for 5 days in Calangute. when we reached to the property the manager told us that they wont be able to give us one room for 5 days and that we need to change rooms in between. We adjusted to this also and paid full payment of our stay. On the 2nd day of our stay there was no electricity in Calangute and despite having a generator they did not provide electricty on the floor which we were staying. So we spent the whole day outside and came back at night. We found that there was generator backup to the entire property except on our floor, so we requested the hotel staff to arrange electricity backup but they ignored us and were not responding to any of our questions. Then we called the manager about the issue and we explained to them about the issues and requested the refund of the remaining 3 days and leave the room. They started abusing us on the call and refused to give electricity backup and refund amount. On the instructions given by the property manager, THE HOTEL STAFF SWITCHED OFF ALL THE CCTVs AND STARTED BEATING ME AND MY FAMILY MEMBERS WITH BAMBOO STICKS AND THEY RAN AWAY.So we called the police and they helped us. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND AND REQUEST NOT TO BOOK THIS PROPERTY "CAP'S CORNER aka BAGA COMFORTS".

I spend there the most happy moments more than 20 years ago. I always was treated friendly and with the biggest hospitality. I dont know it the owners then were the same, but I never met so kind people in more starts hotels. Quit opposite. Furniture is not everything, especial during holidays ;)

It is with sadness that I write this review. We have stayed at Cap’s Corner a number of times since 2009 and even when staying at the property next door (Majestic Inn) we would frequently pop to Cap’s Corner for breakfast or dinner in their restaurant. I have previously added a review here from 2009 that shows how much I enjoyed staying there before. The family ran the place so well and the staff were excellent. Everyone couldn’t do enough for you but also the guesthouse was clean, quiet and a lovely environment to stay in. This is now under new management with just a couple of the original staff retained (although one left while we were there to go and work in the Middle East). It feels like a very different place. I appreciate that my expectations of the place are influenced by our previous positive experiences there. Our stay at Cap’s Corner this time was disappointing. The rooms are tired and lacking in TLC. They are neglected and a little worn (ripped fly screens, dead bugs in light shades - that kind of thing). Our shower had intermittent cold water, which initially meant that the shower was too hot to use. We raised it with the staff early one evening and they said 'ok, we’ll call a plumber'. Hours later there was no update aside from when we sought out staff to ask and the response was “the plumber never came”. We asked what was the solution given that we needed to shower and was told “I don’t know”. Then we were asked if we wanted to move rooms (it was 11pm). No, we did not. We moved the following morning into a room where the shower was more consistent. Although for a number of evenings and early mornings there wasn’t enough hot water for a shower because a number of the rooms were filled (with lots of guests). When we raised this as an issue we were told to let them know if it continues and they’d put the hot water on (as the water is solar powered). There wasn’t any consideration for the fact that more guests = less hot water to go around. On two occasions we had to request this and wait for 30 mins for hot water to take a shower. Towards the end of our holiday we were the only guests there, which meant there was plenty of hot water. When we first arrived we asked about WiFi and were told that it was down. We asked for a few days only to be told that the “engineer never came” or “still no WiFi” or “weak signal” or “broken”. No further updates were offered. After about a week we were told that it was still not working and it had been reported to the manager but he wasn’t around, as he manages other places. It says on the listing here on Tripadvisor that WiFi is available. It isn’t. There is WiFi and it shows on available networks but the password was never shared with us. We eventually stopped asking despite ‘caps main WiFi’ being listed as an available network to connect to. All local restaurants and beach shacks have WiFi and are happy to share the passwords with customers. Caps corner, for some reason, do not want to share theirs. The network was available daily but the password never shared. The TV did not work on our arrival and we mentioned this a number of times. This was fixed a couple of days later but the channels are limited without any English speaking channels at all. If this is important to you. Lots of the rooms have multiple/many guests staying in them with mattresses on the floor in addition to the beds and on one night there was a party between two of the rooms beside us. It went on from 2-6am until we asked them to stop. There was music, glasses smashed, singing and doors banging. There was another evenings of parties on the ground floor that were late and loud. This went unchallenged by staff who claimed not to have heard any noise. One thing I would have always said about Cap’s Corner was the cleanliness was excellent. Sadly this is no longer the case. When we were moved into the second room there was dried snot/bogey on the walls in about four different places, including beside the bed. We asked for this to be cleaned and I was asked it was ok once completed. I could still see snot on the wall and said so. Darryl said it was “a paint chip” and picked it off the wall. In our first room we had an infestation of flying ants on one evening that discarded their wings and they were EVERYWHERE. Our balcony was covered and as there was a gap in the window and fly screen they came inside too. This can’t be helped in a hot country but the clean up job afterwards was limited with lots of wings left behind. It took them two days to get all the wings out. There was a complete lack of urgency when we reported the flying ants in the room and no real action taken had we not insisted. We went for breakfast just one day and were surprised to see stained and worn tablecloths. I can see the table cloths are the same ones in photos from 2010 on this listing on Tripadvisor. It might be time to invest in some new ones. The tables were not really laid for breakfast and previous used breakfast dishes had been left. This attracted crows. I ordered a cheese omelette for breakfast (with Darryl) and was asked for my order again about 20 mins later by another guy and then told there was no cheese so it wasn’t possible. We ended up having tea and toast. We did not go back for breakfast again during our stay. We enquired what the included breakfast covered and it is tea or coffee with toast and jam. Cleaning of our room was done every 2 - 3 days with clean bedding and clean towels replaced. The cleaning was ok but not as thorough as it had once been here. For example, the balconies and floors were not mopped on every cleaning day and small things like no cleaner in the loo nor were glasses or cups ever washed. I understand the guesthouse is on lease to a new manager so this may not be the case forever and I do sincerely hope it won’t be the case as the previous owners worked too hard for this to happen to Cap’s Corner reputation. Lastly, the manager, Rajiv, came and said hello when we arrived and was only seen once more throughout the 2-week holiday. The guys running the place seem to be left without any management oversight so I do not hold them responsible. The manager needs to manage and be sure, for example, that standards are being maintained if he cares about such things. My impression is that he does not care about guests and their experience at Cap’s Corner. The day to day staff need a manager in place to help them do a good job.

I stayed at this family-run property for 4N/5D and had a very good stay. The location of the place is very convenient to access popular beaches and clubs around North Goa. The owners and management are really nice and friendly. A special mention goes to Daryl and Kumar, who are the real heros running the day-to-day operations and taking very good care of guests. I definitely look forward to staying at Cap's Corner again on my next visit.

The owner of this guest house is lovely and the rooms are VERY clean. All of the staff are also very charming and polite. They are quite dated though and very basic. We paid £25 A night and we have stayed in much more modern rooms with better facilties for much cheaper. The Wi-Fi was very poor and kept dropping and also it can be quite noisy from the bar next door (only until 11pm though). The inclusive basic breakfast though was lovely... very nice touch. The location is also fantastic. It is a 10 minute walk to the beach and there is an AMAZING and cheap reataurant next door called Cafe Toto's (must try). A recommendation would be to add mosquito nets in the rooms as we were bitten from head to toe. This isn't the hotel's fault as they are everywhere, but prevention strategies could be put in place.
